Andalusian Stallion

I don't like working on more than one painting at a time but I had to start this horse so I would have an entry at the Emerald Downs show this year. I have gotten more done on Duggie the Doxie but haven't scanned it yet.

This is Hostal, a friend of mine's Andalusian Stallion who passed away a couple of years ago. He was amazing...and very much missed. This was from my last photo shoot with him. I wanted to have him back lit to give him a glow that he seemed to radiate on his own. He had a big presence about him. This is acrylic on gessoboard, 11 x 14 and all underpainting so far so a bit in the messy stage.

Looks fabulous already. I recognized it as Hostal straight away. Poor lad!!

Stallions always seem to have a certain presence....thats what I love about them.
